Our History

Looking back from the foundation of Church of the King in 1999, what God has done is nothing short of a miracle!

With 19 people in attendance, Church of the King held its first service in a small church in Mandeville, Louisiana. Rapid growth propelled the church to move into a commercial office space within a matter of months. This allowed the church to continue to grow and positioned it for the purchase of the "Adventure Skate" building on the northeast corner of Interstate 12 and Highway 59. We moved into the facility just two days before the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Due to the substantial growth upon moving into the newly renovated building, Church of the King expanded to multiple Weekend Services.

In 2003, another major renovation to the facility took place and a multimedia Worship Center for the children was added, along with numerous childcare rooms. We have continued to experience God's favor and amazing growth as attendance has expanded to over 4,500 currently.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we were able to purchase the St. Charles Campus. Currently, this facility is under renovation and is being used as an outreach center to the low-income population of New Orleans.

In August 2009, we added a new campus, the North Causeway Campus in Mandeville, to accommodate the growth of the church and in August 2013, we closed this campus in anticipation of our new building opening in November 2013. In April 2010, we added the Gulf Coast Campus in Biloxi, Mississippi. We launched the Church Online Campus in 2011 and in January 2012, the South Shore Campus in Metairie, Louisiana opened.

Our church staff has also experienced substantial growth. In 2000, the church had three pastors and one support person. By the beginning of 2011, 16 pastors have joined the staff to oversee everything from Small Groups to Children's Ministry, from Pastoral Care to Youth Ministry. Now, our total staff has expanded to over 140 employees.
