Our History
As we look back from the inception of Church of the King in 1999, what God has done is nothing short of a miracle…the miracle in Mandeville!
Church of the King held its first service in a small church in Mandeville, Louisiana, on a Saturday night with 19 people in attendance. Rapid growth propelled the church to move into commercial office space within a matter of months. This allowed the church to continue to grow and positioned it for the purchase of the "Adventure Skate" building on the northeast corner of Interstate 12 and Highway 59. We moved into the facility just two days before the tragic events of 9/11/2001. Due to the substantial growth upon moving into the newly renovated building, Church of the King expanded to multiple Weekend Services.
In 2003, another major renovation to the facility took place and a multimedia Worship Center for the children was added, along with numerous childcare rooms. We have continued to experience God's favor and amazing growth as attendance has expanded to over 4,500 currently.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina we were able to purchase the St. Charles Campus. Currently this facility is under renovation and is used as an outreach center to the low-income population of New Orleans.
In August 2009, we added a new campus, the North Causeway Campus in Mandeville, to accommodate the growth of the church. In April 2010, we added the Gulf Coast Campus in Biloxi, Mississippi. We launched the Church Online Campus in 2011 and the South Shore Campus in Metairie, Louisiana in January of 2012.
Church staff has also experienced substantial growth. In 2000, the church had three pastors and one support person. By the dawn of 2011, 16 pastors have joined the staff to oversee everything from Small Groups to Children's Ministry, from Pastoral Care to Youth Ministry. Our total staff has now expanded to over 140 employees.
